Jean-Martin Bauer
World Food Programme 

A Washington, D.C. native of Haitian-American background, Jean-Martin Bauer leads WFP’s food security monitoring team in Rome. He launched and manages the mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (mVAM) project, WFP’s remote mobile data collection initiative. 

Prior to working at WFP’s headquarters, Jean-Martin spent 12 years with the UN in the West African Sahel. Jean-Martin holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s in Geography from the London School of Economics. He is an avid baseball fan. 

Linus Bengtsson
Flowminder

Linus Bengtsson is the co-founder and Executive Director of Flowminder. 

Flowminder is a registered non-profit entity based in Stockholm, Sweden. Our mission is to improve public health outcomes by working with NGOs and government agencies with method development, capacity building, and implementation and scaling of processes relating to collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and disseminating anonymized mobile phone location data and satellite data.

As part of his research on public health applications of information technology at Karolinska Institute, Dr. Bengtsson has conducted surveys and interventions using online and mobile networks in Vietnam and Haiti, and has additional field experience from Pakistan, Brazil, and Ethiopia. He has been working as Clinical Epidemiologist for the Gapminder Foundation.
